Photo Inspiration for May

This month's photo is one of my favourites that I've taken this year. I love the winding vine and the peering out into another world.

What grabs your eye in the photograph? Is it the vines, the archway, the countryside beyond or the boy? How does it make you feel? Are you more drawn to the unseen area behind the camera or do you want to step through the archway?

What does this inspire you to write?

    Ooh this is a real life "Secret Garden". I always loved that story.

    It's the boy who catches my eye. Who is he? And what's he doing in that garden all by himself?

Real life doesn't just have to provide inspiration for our characters. It can also feed into the locations we use in our writing. This is the school I attended between the ages of seven and eight years old. This photograph, and more of the interior, was kindly taken by an old school friend. I've recently finished a new murder mystery play called Thoroughly Murdered Millie . Set in the 1920s, rich young widow Millie Harper-Smythe shocks her family (and the staff) with her plans for the future.
