My Cast

I've talked to you before about using actors as visual blueprints for the characters in my novel. Just as a bit of fun on a Friday, I thought I'd give you my cast in pictures. There is one main character missing but I'm still trying to place her. Enjoy.

  1. Love Sean Bean, Helen Mirren, Tilda Swinton, and Ian McKellan...not really familiar with the others. I do this sometimes too to help me with visual descriptions or quirks of my characters.

  2. I've never tried to cast my characters, but I'm amazed when people do it with their own characters. I'd never be able to find ones that would match what's in my head.

  3. I have been working on a screenplay for sometime and when I get stuck on dialogue I think of who might play the character. Somehow it frees up a line or two of speech. It looks like you've made some good choices, although I'm unfamiliar with a few. My main character is a 35 year old woman who is a drop dead gorgeous, and highly successful in business. In other words, she has the world by the tail, until something happens to change it. Is it just me or are we somewhat lacking in Hollywood starlets?

  4. Yeah. I do the same. Or here certain voices in my head. I've got a character with a cool southern drawl.

  5. Yeah, I'm a bit puzzled as to mine, too, but I like YOURS.

  6. Thanks, everyone. It wasn't until I started thinking about this that I realised that I have no idea who I'd cast in the role of Isabelle. She's a single mum, a widow, in her thirties, who has lost nearly everyone she's cared about but stays strong for her daughter. All the actresses seem too unreal. I think the nearest I've seen to what I imagine Isabelle to be like is Isabella Rossellini. On hang on, that's it. Cast.
